If you’re like me, being high and having too many options to choose from is a challenge. That’s one of the problems with Netflix. When I’m trying to take a dab, hit my couch, and enjoy my life, Netflix’s infinite list of streamable entertainment makes that impossible. You can’t decide what to watch so after an hour of scrolling you end up watching the same episode of The Office you always do (“Threat Level Midnight”), and go to bed.
So, I made it my mission to get very high and watch almost every new release on Netflix for May (and a few from April) to make your life easier. My goal is to curate a variety of shows and movies for every mood you may encounter. These are the best new Netflix releases to watch while lit.
Stand up comedy from one of the world’s best comedians.
John Mulaney’s stand-up is the perfect thing to watch while hitting a hybrid. Just like my favorite strain, his comedy is a perfect balance between heady thought-provoking ideas, like questioning colleges asking for donations after you’ve already paid them a ludicrous amount of money, and silly belly laughs about his mom seeing ghosts. It was so good I forgot to mindlessly check my Instagram for an entire hour. He wrote for Saturday Night Live, performed on Broadway with Nick Kroll, and has an adorable French Bulldog named Petunia. What more could you want?
It’s like if Bobby Flay was terrible at his job.
This is the funniest cooking show since FOREVER. Amateur bakers try to recreate complicated desserts with disastrous results. Host Nicole Byer (Loosely Exactly Nicole, Girl Code) is hilarious, ruthlessly honest, and the perfect host for a show so silly and yet so earnest. It’s the perfect thing to flip on after a long day at work, while eating a big bowl of pasta, and realize at least your life is better than these flailing contestants. Or, in a perfect world, you should eat an edible an hour before you plan to watch this so you feel like cake tastes: delicious.
What Broad City did for television, Dude is doing for movies. It’s the first-ever female-driven cannabis comedy whose cast would be amazingly fun to toke up…
